Martha A. Hansen, 88, of the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake formerly of Mason City, died Thursday (November 4, 2004) at the care center. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 670 12th St. NE with Rev. James Grabitske officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue one hour at the church before services. Memorials may be given to the Martha A. Hansen Memorial Fund. Martha was born February 5, 1916 in Niebull, West Germany the daughter of Martin and Adolfina (Ahrends) Sonnichsen. She attended schools in Germany. Martha married Henry C. Hansen in Niebull, West Germany following WW II. The Hansen?s came to the United States from Germany in 1952 settling on a farm south of Ventura. They would later move to Mason City. Martha was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking and clothing alterations for her family. Martha?s survivors include her son, Harold E. Hansen and wife Esther of Clear Lake; daughters, Irene Beenken and husband Gary of Mason City, Mary Ann Hansen of Mason City; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brothers, George and Gunther Sonnichsen of Germany. Martha?s parents, husband, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and grandson, Lance Beenken preceded her in death.
