Mary B. Campbell Olson

October 13, 1918 — March 30, 2008

Mary B. Campbell Olson, 89, of 302 2nd Street NE, died Sunday, March 30, 2008 at the Good Shepherd Health Center.  Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia with Rev. Jim Stiles officiating.  Interment will be in the Rockwell Cemetery, Rockwell.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue at the church one hour before the service.  Memorials may be given to the Mary B. Campbell Olson Memorial Fund.  Mary was born October 13, 1918 near rural Latimer, Franklin County the daughter of Carl and Martha (Harris) Jorgensen.  She attended schools in Franklin and Hancock Counties and later received her GED at North Iowa Area Community College, NIACC.  She went on to receive her nurses training at NIACC and worked at St. Josephs Mercy Hospital.  Mary lived in Wesley, Latimer, Rockwell, and moved to Mason City in 1974.  She married Roger Campbell December 22, 1937.  He died in 1973.  She would later marry Earl Goodnow in 1979, John Berding in 1985 and Melvin Olson in 1991.  They would all precede her in death.  Mary was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Senior Citizens Center, and Queen Rebekah Lodge where she was a past Nobel Grand.  She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, especially the trip she made to Alaska with her family in 2000.
 
Mary is survived by 2 daughters, Jean Bills and husband Ernest of Clear Lake, Betty Maassen and husband Cary of Mason City, grandchildren, Kevin Bills and wife Barbara of Loveland, Colorado, Mark Bills and wife Christy of Adel, Darin Bills and wife Kate of Waukee, Eric Maassen and wife Nicole of Elm Grove, Wisconsin, Jeffrey Maassen and wife Rachel of North Liberty, great grandchildren, Amanda, Nicholas, Sean and Blaise Bills, Henry and Lucy Maassen, special step-daughter and friend, Ruth Rosenthal of Mason City, and several nieces and nephews.
 
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, 4 husbands and brother, Harry Jorgensen and wife Mary Jo.
