Mary Elizabeth ?Betty? Cimijotti, 96, of 222 S. Pierce, died Saturday, April 8, 2006 at USA Healthcare. A funeral mass will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, 302 5th St. SE with Rev. Harry Koelker officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. A scriptural wake service will be held at 6:30 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa or St. Joseph?s Catholic Church. Mary Elizabeth was born south of Mason City on the farm owned by her parents, James and Ara (Wass) Pedelty on February 14, 1910. She attended country school in Bath Township then furthered her education at Mason City High School, Mason City Junior College and Cedar Falls Teachers College where her mother and grandmother had attended. Her parents farmed the same farm until 1933 when they moved to Mason City. Mary Elizabeth married Leo Cimijotti in 1929. She will be remembered in her neighborhood as the little cow-girl who drove cattle on a horse for miles for her father as trucks were few in those days and her father was a stock buyer. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Barbara Cimijotti and step-granddaughter, Donna of Tallahassee, Florida; 2 grandsons, Mark and Bruce; nephew, Bob Pedelty and wife Harriet of Mason City; niece, Georgia Ludeman of Mason City. Mary Elizabeth was the last living member of her family as she was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leo in 1997; son, Lew Francis in 2004; brothers, Holmes, Robert and Donald ?Buck? Pedelty; sister, Mrs. George (Avis) Ludeman; nephews, Pat Pedelty of Minnesota, Jay and Tom Pedelty of Clear Lake and Holmes Pedelty of Minneapolis.
