Mary Evelyn Nelson, 95, of Mason City, died Friday, May 23, 2008 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Graveside Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday (May 27, 2008) in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Stiles of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church.
Mary Evelyn Nelson was born December 8, 1912 in Mason City, the daughter of Amel and Ava (Iona) Nelson. She attended Mason City Schools and graduated in 1930. She moved to Salt Lake City, UT in 1943 where she worked as a Secretary for the F.B.I. for 31 years until her retirement in 1976. She remained there until moving back to Mason City in 2001. She enjoyed watching the Utah Jazz, crocheting, playing cards, puzzles, and she loved to travel and has been all over the world.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mason City and also in Salt Lake City, UT. She also was a member of the United Methodist Women and the NARFE.
She is survived by her cousins, Helen Ristau and husband Walter of Mason City and Lenore Forbes of Nora Springs and many friends at the Willows.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
