Mary Jean Johnson, 73, of 677 3rd Place SE, died Tuesday (May 13, 2003) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, 201 Willowbrook Drive, with Rev. Terry Hamilton-Poore officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, and continue at the church one hour before the service. Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa. Mary Jean was born August 4, 1929 in rural Alden, Iowa the daughter of Charles S. and Florence Dell (McViker) Rounds. She graduated from New Hartford High School in 1947. Mary Jean married Harlan E. Johnson November 21, 1947 in New Hartford. They first settled in Cedar Falls, then to Tripoli for ten years moving to Mason City in 1961. For many years Mary Jean wrapped gifts at Younkers, worked at State Brand Creamery for five years and at the Elks Lodge for a short time. Mary Jean was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, taught Sunday school, bowled in bowling league, was a Cub Scout leader and enjoyed flowers. Mary Jean is survived by her husband; Harlan E. Johnson of Mason City, Children; Chuck W. Johnson and wife Janice of Clear Lake, Karen Rowley and husband Jerry of Bremerton, WA, Jerry R. Johnson of Plentywood, MT, Kenneth H. Johnson and fiancé Stephanie of Waukon, Grandchildren; Jenifer, Shelly, Tonia, Chelsea, Ben, Andy, Katrina, Zachary, Brandon and Abbie, Great grandchildren; Drew, Kelsey, Lucas, Mackenzie and Sarah, Brothers; Ralph Rounds and wife Eunice, Chester Rounds, Wayne Rounds and wife Pat, Virgil Rounds and wife Christie, Sisters; Dorothy Williams, Ethel Williams, Ilene Garnsey, and Joan King Mary Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Son; Danny Calvin Johnson, Brother; Robert Rounds
