Mary L. 'Mickey' Torgerson

Mary L.”Mickey” Torgerson, 83, of Mason City, died Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit due to complications of pancreatic cancer. Upon her wishes, her body was donated to the University of Iowa Anatomical Donation Department. Celebration of Life services for Mary and her husband Marlen J. “Mike” Torgerson, 92, who died Thursday, April 4th, 2013 will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 15, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave. with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating. A gathering of friends and family will be held one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa and the Mason City Public Library. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Mary Lou “Mickey” was born November 15, 1929 in Mason City, IA the daughter of William P. “Bill” Tyler and Dorothy (Ryan) Tyler. She graduated from Mason City High School and attended the University of Iowa for 2 years. On October 15, 1950 she married Marlen “Mike” Torgerson at the First Presbyterian Church in Mason City. Mickey was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, art, antiques, and golf. She was a Girl Scout leader, womens chairman at the Mason City Country Club, member of TT Chapter CM and was a board member at Tyler-Ryan Furniture Company. Mickey is survived by her daughter, Kristine (Price) Dahlstrom of Mason City; grandson, Ryan (Sherri) Sprau of Louisville, KY; granddaughter, Kathryn “Katy” (Darin) Grimes of Swisher, IA; great-grandchildren, Payton, Anna and Parker Sprau, and Levi Grimes and many nieces and nephews. Mickey was preceded in death by her husband, Mike; her parents, an infant son, and brother, John “Jack” Tyler. The family would like to thank Katie Henamen RN, Hospice Homecare Nurse and all the wonderful nurses and nurse assistants at the Hospice Inpatient Unit for the loving care Mary received the last four months.

Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa and the Mason City Public Library.

Visitation:
