Mary Lois Sable

Mary L. Sable, 88, of Mason City, died Sunday, September 30, 2018, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 5, 2018, at Grace Church, 440 N Illinois Ave, with Pastor Nick Daugherty officiating.

Visitation will be held at Grace Church Thursday, October 4, 2018, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.

Interment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mary L. Sable was born August 18, 1930, in Mason City to parents Uel Burton and Dorothy (Sells) Howe. She was raised in Mason City and attended Mason City High School. Mary was united in marriage to Walter Sable on October 18, 1947, in Mason City. Mary was a Nurse Aide for 28 years at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital now known as Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa. Mary Treasured her family, including her dog, Lassie. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and puzzles.

Mary is survived by her 3 children and their families: Son: Jerry (Jeanne) Sable and Jerry's children Scott (Neely) Sable – MacKenzie and Jack; and Michelle Sable – Amie and Layla. Daughter: Sharon Blakewell and her daughter, Mary (Matt) Determan – Ellie and Henry. Daughter: Joyce (Jack) Hull and Joyce's daughters' Jaime (Tim) Osgood – Isaac, KallaiAnna, Abigail, Emily, and Ivan; and Julie (Michael) Howes – Kaeyleigh and Kaiden. She is also survived by Jeanne’s 3 children: Stacey (Travis) Highley, David Garrison, and Nicole White; six step great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and special friends/neighbors: Jim and Linda See and their dog Karma.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Walter Sable (1993); parents: Burt and Dorothy Howe; brother: Melvin Howe; sisters: Dorothy Prohaski, Hazel Leaman, and Alberta Rheingans; 2 nieces, and her beloved dog Lassie.
