Mary Lou Poulos, 88, of Mason City, died Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Pastor Kathy Graves, Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment services will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa. Mary Lou was born January 16, 1927 in rural Joice, Iowa the daughter of Joe and Gardia (Twenge) Larson. She graduated from Joice High School in 1945 then attended business school in Mankato, Minnesota. Mary Lou married Sam Poulos October 12, 1947 in Fargo, North Dakota. They moved to Mason City in 1955. Mary Lou worked as a school secretary in the Mason City School District retiring in 1992. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Mary Lou was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings, Twins, Iowa Hawkeyes and an occasional little league ball game. Mary Lou is survived by her son, Allen (Lori) Poulos of Hampton; grandchildren, Spencer (Carolyn) Poulos of Longmont, Colorado, Kinsey Poulos of Des Moines, Christopher Poulos of Mason City and Kimberly (Shawn) Opstevdt of Mason City; great grandchildren, Emily and Brayden; sister-in-law, Lula Poulos of Mason City; brother-in-law, Louie (Kathy) Trigas of Minneapolis, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Sam; son, Gregory and 1 brother, Harlan Larson.
Cemetery:
Inurnment services will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
