Mary Lou Roe

MASON CITY: Mary Lou Roe, age 75, of Mason City, died Saturday, November 14, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 North Delaware, with Rev. Mark Lavrenz officiating. There will be a gathering from 4:00 7PM on Tuesday, November17, 2009 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Mary Lou Roe memorial fund in care of the family.

Mary Lou was born on October 2, 1934, to Paul and Rosella (Reich) Krumm in Elma, Iowa. She attended school in Elma through 10th grade. On November 29, 1952, she married Wendell D. Roe in Mason City. In 1954, she moved to Mason City, where she was the secretary/bookkeeper for her husbands business, Roe Heating. Mary Lou was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards and cribbage, traveling and collecting antique glassware.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years: Wendell Roe; one son: Bruce Roe and Rachel of Grimes, IA; one daughter: Wendy Olson and husband David of Mason City; three sisters: Betty Bohl of Mason City, Marlene Smith and husband Gilbert of Kiln, MS, Joan Saucier and husband Gary of Poplarville, MS. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Pauline and Arlene Krumm in infancy; two brothers: Robert and Ronald Krumm.
