Maxine was born August 7, 1926 in Montezuma, Iowa the daughter of Peter and Verna (Peterson) Seaborg, where she learned of hard work and tenacity while the family farmed during the Great Depression. She persevered on with her education and graduated from Manson High School and attended beauty school in Waterloo. Maxine married Donald E. Lafrenz August 8, 1948 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. After their marriage they started their family in Hudson and Cedar Falls, IA. They moved to Mason City in 1964 where together with her husband, Donald, they became independent business owners and avid supporters of the community and people. Upon passing of her husband in 1985, Maxine became Owner/Secretary of Don Lafrenz Ford Lincoln Mercury and President of Lafrenz Land Company. Maxine enjoyed being a homemaker as she was an excellent cook and always provided a loving and warm home for her children and grandchildren to come, especially during the holidays. She enjoyed traveling especially with family, was an avid reader, enjoyed her dear friends and a good game of bridge or round of golf and was thought to be a very lucky fisherwoman, often catching most of the fish much to the chagrin of her husband and family at their cabin in Northern Minnesota where the family made many wonderful memories together. Maxine made her home around water for many years in Mason City and then Clear Lake, where children loved to play and swim. In her later years, she continued to live independently, played less golf perhaps but was able to still enjoy the sport more as a spectator as she built her last home on a golf course. Maxine had a wonderful sense of humor and profound sense of pride being of 100% Swedish heritage. She greatly enjoyed and treasured all of her friendships that she was blessed to have had thru out her lifetime. Maxine loved and cherished her family and in return was loved without limits by her children and grandchildren. She had a deep Christian faith and was a proud member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Maxine is survived by her 4 children, Debbie (Ronald) Thompson of Council Bluffs, Gary Lafrenz of Mason City, Ronald (Lana) Lafrenz of Clear Lake, and Janine (Harry) Alcorn of Prior Lake, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren, Ellen, Rachel, Alex, Connor, Lauren, Ryan, Katie, Morgan, Anna, Harry III, and Maggie; 2 sisters, Alene (Richard) Stewart of Pocahontas, IA and Frances Carl of Montezuma, IA.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Donald, and sister, Helen Doster. Maxine will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
