MASON CITY Maxine Ziemann, 88, of Mason City, died Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, (July 11, 2009) at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 100 1st St. N.E., with Pastor Patty Aurand officiating. Interment will be held at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM 8:00 PM on Friday, July 10, 2009 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, and continue one hour prior to the church service. Memorials may be directed to the Maxine Ziemann memorial fund in care of the family.\r\n
Maxine was born December 30, 1920 in Onawa, IA, the daughter of Eugene and Kittie Wilkinson. She married Benedict Ziemann on November 14, 1940. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Maxine enjoyed life, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.\r\n
She is survived by her children: Mary Donaghy and husband Larry of Clear Lake, Beverly Ballard and husband Jerry of Loretto, KY, Ben Ziemann and wife Dorothy of Belvedere, IL, Michael Ziemann of and wife Honey of Galesburg, IL, Mark Ziemann and friend Shelly Higgins of Mason City; 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. \r\n
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Benedict in 1992; one brother: Gene; three sisters: Josephine, Eileen and Darlene.
