Michael G. Sturges

CLEAR LAKE:  Michael G. Sturges, 77, of Clear Lake, died Sunday, June 8, 2008 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.   Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Mason City, with Pastor Gary Gonnerman of St. Ansgar Baptist Church officiating.  A gathering of family and friends will be one hour prior to the services.  Memorials may be directed to the Michael Sturges memorial fund.
 
Michael was born August 22, 1930 in Waterloo, IA, the son of George and Mary (Curley) Sturges.  He grew up and attended school in Rockwell.  He married Marjorie Ryburn on September 22, 1950 in Albert Lea, MN. Michael helped his father on the farm for several years.  He worked for Armour for 35 years and Mason City Transit for 19 years.  He enjoyed deer and  pheasant hunting, driving his Honda motor scooter around Clear Lake and spending the winters in Texas with his wife Marjorie.  He also enjoyed the 4th of July, when all the family would come home.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren. 
 
Michael is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marjorie of Clear Lake;  his children:  Linda Paulsen of Shawnee, KS, Dennis Sturges and wife Denise of St. Ansgar, and Sandy Martinez and husband Rick of Houston, TX;  8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and 1 sister:  Patti Gealow and husband Donald of Mason City. 
 
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers:  Gerald and Thomas Sturges.

A gathering of friends and family will be one hour prior the the memorial service.
