Michael J. Carpenter, 40, of Mason City, IA, died Thursday, November 19, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Dan Gerrietts officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Monday, November 23, 2015, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Interment will take place in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Michael Carpenter memorial fund in care of the family.

Michael was born November 3, 1975, in Mason City, the son of Debra (Berneman) Carpenter. He attended North Central and Mason City Schools. On August 22, 2001, Michael married Hilary True in Las Vegas, NV. They had four beautiful children. Michael enjoyed working as an Electrician and Mechanic Foreman for Canadian Pacific Railroad for the past 16 years. Mike enjoyed fishing and spending quality time with his family – especially family movie and game nights. He enjoyed working around the house on home improvement projects and was the “go to” guy for his family on anything tech related. Mike was a pillar of strength and support during his families past struggles and hardships and will be deeply missed. Michael was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Michael is survived by his wife of 14 years: Hilary True Carpenter of Mason City; 3 children: Autumn Carpenter (age 16), Peyton Carpenter (age 14), and Ty Carpenter (age 9); his mother and step-father: Debra and Robert Tuttle of Mason City; mother and father-in-law: Dennis and Lisa True of Mason City; brother-in-law: Aaron True (Stacy Krein) and daughters: Adelynn and Makayla of Mason City; and sister-in-law: Haley True of Mason City. He is also survived by Uncles Bill (Patsy) Berneman, and Dale Berneman, Aunts Cathy (Dale) Rogers, and Diane (Bruce) Bonjour of Mason City, Cousins: Shawn Rockwell, Jason (Dana) Rockwell and Karen (Berneman) England and their children. His extended family includes many other Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

He was preceded in death by his son: Hunter True; and his grandparents: Bernard and Margaret Berneman and Great Grandparents, Dale and Jessie Moore and Harlan and Hazel Sleeper.
