Mildred D. Langan, 89, of 1431 N. Hampshire Place, died Saturday, August 20, 2005 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorial services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Steve Palo officiating. Inurnment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa, KCMR Radio or Trinity Lutheran Church. Mildred was born July 17, 1916 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin the daughter of John and Ida (Ziebell) Tank. She graduated from high school in Oshkosh. Mildred married James M. Langan March 3, 1936 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. They moved to Mason City that same year where she has resided since. Mildred was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Mason City Country Club. She loved to play golf and recorded a hole in one on August 19, 1997 at the age of 81. Mildred enjoyed playing bridge, bingo, fishing, dancing and spending time with her family during the holidays and birthdays. She is survived by 3 daughters, Jane F. Ollenburg and husband Dr. James of Mason City, Liz McGuire of Naples, Florida, Patricia K. Niver and husband Donald of Mason City; 7 grandchildren, Julie Waychoff and husband Scott of Edina, Minnesota, Steven Ollenburg and wife LeeAnn of Waukee, Angela McGuire of Chicago, Illinois, Ramona Thiessen of La Vista, Nebraska, Sarah Oliver and husband Dean of Iowa City, Kristin Niver of New York, New York, Ryan Niver of Iowa City; 9 great grandchildren, Jeffrey and Suzette Waychoff, Jessica and Lindsay Ollenburg, Megan and Rachel Storjohann, Michael, Ashley and Saxon Thiessen; 3 nephews and 2 nieces in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James M. Langan in 1986; 2 sisters and 1 brother.
