Mildred R.Citurs

MASON CITY: Mildred R. Citurs, 96, of Mason City, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at the Good Shepherd Health Center in the care of her dedicated and loving Hospice nurse, Patty. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday, March 10, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Dan Gerrietts officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Iowa. Mildred was born February 10, 1918 in Kensett, Iowa the daughter of Simon and Sophia (Brosdal) Roslien. A devoted teacher of 42 years, Mildred graduated from Kensett High School, attended Waldorf College and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa. She married Ray Citurs of Northwood July 12, 1951 in Manly. Mildred’s years of teaching gave her much joy. She was a firm believer in giving her students a foundation in reading. She encouraged her students the love of books and to look beyond the words to search for the true meaning. The family would like to thank the staff at Good Shepherd Health Center for their compassion and dedication the past 13 years. Millie was the last surviving child of Simon and Sophia Roslien. Mildred is survived by Ruby Harmon, Wanda Citurs, Karl Citurs, Buster and Mavis Richards, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray in 1999; siblings, Amanda Holstad, Josie Brunsvold, Cora Brunsvold, Anne Richards, Clara Conners, Bertina, in infancy, John Roslien, Oscar Roslien, and Bennie Roslien; sisters and brothers- in-law, Esther Flattnes, Mary Johnson, Leon, Roman, and Earl Citurs.
