Myrl Glenda Hebel, 90, of Mason City, died peacefully, Monday, August 29, 2005 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. A funeral mass will be held 10:00 AM Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams. The Rev. Jon Seda, Rev. John Moser and Msgr. Joseph J. Slepicka will celebrate mass. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM. Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa. Myrl was born September 15, 1914 in Emmons, Minnesota the daughter of Anton and Mary (Benson) Egland. She lived in the Emmons area where she met her husband, Clem Hebel. They were married September 16, 1933 at St James Catholic Church in Forest City. They lived in Albert Lea and later farmed NW of Emmons. In 1941, they moved to Iowa, 2 ½ miles North of North Iowa Area Community College where they lived and farmed until 1959 when they moved to Mason City. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1983. Myrl was an honorary member of St. Dorothy?s Guild and served as an usher for 20 years at Holy Family. Myrl was known for her beautiful yard and loved spending time mowing and planting flowers. It was her favorite hobby. She also loved to go gambling and play the slot machines. Myrl is survived by two sons, Robert Hebel and wife Carole of Henderson, NV, Richard Hebel and his friend Joyce Hill of Henderson, NV; daughter, Bonnie Fritz of Mason City; 10 grandchildren, Steven Hebel, Suzanne Lehfeldt and her husband Andrew, Scott Hebel and his wife Caroline, Mike Hebel and his wife, Kristi, Julie Olson and her husband Randy, James Fritz and his wife Julie, Jay Fritz, Tiffani Shaw, Matthew Hebel and his wife Kris and Ryan Hebel; 14 great grandchildren, Scott Ryan Hebel, Maressa Hebel, Ciara Velasquez, Ethan Velasquez, Austin Hebel, Logan Hebel, Taylor Nuehring, Kendell Olson, Derek Olson, Josie Fritz, Skylar Shaw, Chase Shaw, Michele Hebel and Marissa Hebel; brothers, Milford Egland and his wife Evelyn of Albert Lea, MN, Adler Roy Nelson of Motley, MN; sisters, Violet Roberts of Colorado Springs, CO, Irene LaValle of St. Paul, MN; sisters-in-law, Helen Scurlock of Daly City, CA, Jerry Grant of Manly, Elaine Barsness of Lake Mills and Dolores Mathahs of Manly; many nieces and nephews. Myrl was preceded in death by her husband, Clem in 1985; an infant son, Charles; brothers, John Egland and Carl Nelson; sisters, Beverly Nielsen and Louella McCloskey.
