Myrna Jean Davis

Myrna Jean Davis, 86, of Mason City, died on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at The Good Shepherd Health Center.

A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday April 30, 2019, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Avenue.

Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service time on Tuesday.

Interment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials can be made out to the family of Myrna Davis.

Myrna attended Hanlontown Public Schools graduating in 1950. She was the Band Queen in 1950. She worked for Vance Music Co. for about thirteen years. Myrna met her hubby, Mel Davis as he was looking for a record called “When It’s Spring Time in The Rockies”. She told him it would take only three days to get it, you know it took 8 days, I think she had it hid under the counter just so I would keep coming in. She was very active in musical programs in school. She played piano for all programs. It was also Mel’s special pastime. Myrna also worked for Jones Hammond Organ store where she taught organ. She finally sold the record he wanted and then talked him into being her husband. They were married on March 30, 1952. She also worked for Coast to Coast Store. Myrna was a very devoted and loving wife. No one could have found a finer person. Photography, traveling, music were the things she liked to do. She was a very wonderful wife for 67 years.

She is survived by her husband Mel; sister Marilyn (Mickey) Halverson, brother Dennis (Sue) Bray; one son Lynn (Deb); three grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Alvin and Gen Bray.

Later in life she moved to a nursing home due to medical problems. Mel was there to help take care of her. She would like to thank all of the people who took care of her during her stay at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
