Myron 'Mike' L. Green

Myron 'Mike' L. Green, 88, of Mason City, IA, died Friday, February 6, 2015, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Lime Creek Nature Center, 3501 Lime Creek Road, Mason City, IA 50401 or the MacNider Art Museum, 303 2nd Street Southeast, Mason City, IA 50401. Myron was born August 16, 1926, in Forest City, IA, the son of Lynn and Belle (Davidson) Green. He graduated from Forest City High School in 1944, and later continued his education at Coyne Electric Trade School in Chicago, IL. In 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during WWII until his honorable discharge in 1946. He moved to Mason City in 1949. On December 10, 1954, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Jahns in Burlington, WI. Mike worked for Interstate Power Company for 40 years before his retirement in 1988. Upon retirement, Dottie and Mike spent their summers in Northern Idaho. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing and fixer-upper projects. He attended the First Congregational United Church of Christ and was a member of the VFW. Mike is survived by his wife of 60 years: Dorothy “Dottie” Green of Mason City; 1 son: Tim Green and wife Nancy of Columbus, OH; 3 grandchildren: Adam Green (Chelsea) of Alexander, IA, Sean Green of Ames, IA and Ian Green of Ames; 1 sister: Joann Bartleson and husband George of Forest City; niece: Jody Heyer of Charles City; and nephew: Matt Bartleson of Forest City. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter: Ellen Green; 1 brother: Richard Green; and1 sister: Audrey Green.
