Myrtle J. Holmlund

Myrtle J. Holmlund, 96, of 302 2nd St. NE, died Thursday (May 27, 2004) at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. James M. Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and one hour at the church before services. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Iowa. Myrtle was born October 2, 1907 in Mason City the daughter of John A. and Tena (Twedten) Holmlund. She graduated from Mason City High School and Waldorf College in Forest City. Myrtle was a District Supervisor for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Mason City for 42 years. She retired July 1, 1972. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for over 45 years, Alter Guild, Telephone Pioneers and enjoyed traveling with her sister, Hulda. Myrtle is survived by her many nieces and nephews, Shirley Pierce and husband Brice of Thompson, Bob Holmlund and wife Sandy of Hudson, Mary Stumo and husband Charles of Northwood, Ron Holmlund and wife Gerrie of Readlyn, Dave Holmlund and wife Pat of Buena Vista, CO, Marilyn Holmlund of Chandler, AZ, Linda Holmlund of Redlands, CA, Jim Holmlund and wife Nancy of Palo Alto, CA, Diane Holmlund of Durham Ontario, Canada, Judy Saathoff of Rochester Hills, MI, Jean Holmlund of Minneapolis, MN; many great nieces and nephews; great great nieces and nephews; great great great nieces and nephews. Myrtle?s parents, sister, Hulda Holmlund; brothers, William T., Kenneth and Elmer Holmlund; nephew, Jack Holmlund; great nephew, Craig Holmlund and great great nephew, Nels Stumo precede her in death.
