Nellie Tonita (Tade) Daugherty, 82, of 2501 West State Street, died Monday, October 22, 2007 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Steve Hansen, Grace United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Internment will be at the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Nellie Tonita Daugherty Fund. Nellie was born January 4, 1925, near Glenwood, Missouri. She was one of twin daughters of Albert Henry Tade and Frances Merle (Smyser) Tade. Nellie graduated from high school in Livonia, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Paul Clark Daugherty on December 8, 1945 in Kirksville, Missouri. They were married 54 years. To this union one son was born, Paul Albert Daugherty of Cedar Falls, IA. They lived in Des Moines, St. Paul and moved to Mason City in 1948. Nellie enjoyed gardening and helping her husband with his hobby of carpentry, building, and doing woodworking and cabinet making in their spare time. She loved life, flowers and her family. Nellie managed Fanny Farmer Candies for 15 years, then for Bergo?s in the Candy Department for 11 years. She retired in 1987. She is survived by one son Paul Albert Daughtery and wife Ruth Ann (Masters) of Cedar Falls, IA, twin sister Luella Lolita (Tade) Kongable of Mason City, nephew Albert William Kongable and his wife Teresa Ann (Little) Kongable and their two children Sarah Ann and Paul William, all of Orlando, Florida, a niece, Roxanne Kongable and her three children, Angela Kathleen, Rebecca Leah and Jennifer Lynn Kongable, 2 step grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren, 5 step great great grandchildren, 1 aunt and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband (Paul Clark Daugherty), her daughter-in-law Mary DeLaine (Totten) Daugherty, parents Albert Henry Tade and Frances Merle (Smyser) Tade, her brother-in-law Edgar Elvin Kongable and a nephew james Edgar Kongable.
