Nick Emmit Satovich Jr.

Nick Emmit Satovich Jr, 74, of 516 N. Delaware, died Saturday (May 3, 2003) at home. Memorial services will be held 11:00 Saturday (May 17, 2003) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Major Chuck Wright, Salvation Army, officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. Military rites will be conducted by the Mason City Memorial Association. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday (May 16, 2002) at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Nick Emmit Satovich Jr. Memorial Fund. Nick was born January 4, 1929 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the son of Nick Emmit and Lena (Schalo) Satovich Sr.. Nick enlisted in the US Army in May of 1952 and was honorably discharged in May of 1954. He was recalled in 1958 where he was a driver for General Booth in Germany. He was discharged in 1960. Nick was a self-employed bookbinder for Allstates Bookbinding Company for 45 years. He resided in the Minneapolis area for many years moving to Mason City in 1977. Nick was a past member of the VFW and Eagles Lodge, enjoyed yard work, decorating outside and inside for Christmas and was considered a ?jack of all trades?. Nick is survived by his special friend; Mona Best & her sons, Philip & Tim Best of Mason City, Brother; Varner Satovich of Mason City, Sister; Evelyn Gunelius & husband Harold of New Brighton, MN, Son; Paul Smith & his daughter Chelsea of Indianapolis, IN, 3 daughters; Jayme Hlavacek & husband Mark & their daughters, Holly & Taylor of Plymouth, MN, Sharon Carter & husband Lewis & their sons, Jayme & Chad of Clearwater, FL, Melani of Iowa, 3 Step-children; Peggy, Bruce & Bill Smith, Goddaughter; September Ropella of Mason City, 3 nephews, 4nieces, 2 great nephews, 4 great nieces, 1 great great nephew & 1 great great niece. Nick was preceded in death by his father; Nick Satovich Sr., Mother & step-father; Lena & Clarance Boldt, brother; Robert Satovich, sister; Marie and 1 nephew; Robert Satovich
