Norma J. Reynolds, 77, of 2038 Hunters Ridge, died Thursday, January 31, 2008 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia with Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa or the First United Methodist Church. Norma was born on a farm August 28, 1930 in Shelby, Iowa the daughter of Thornton and Florence (Eckel) Best. She attended local schools in Shelby graduating from Shelby High School in 1948. She attended Iowa State University. She met her husband, Stanley L. Reynolds while she was working in Marshalltown, Iowa as a secretary. Stan and Norma were married in June of 1952 in Marshalltown. The couple moved to Des Moines where Stanley worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and Norma worked for the Des Moines Register. The couple moved to Mason City in the 1950s where they raised two children. Norma worked in the United Methodist Church District Office for several years throughout the 1990s. The consummate homemaker and volunteer, she deeply believed in the duties and obligations of belonging to the community of Mason City. Her efforts for PEO and the United Methodist Church helped many people in need. She was always dependable and courteous while trying to make Mason City a better place. She has boldly battled bone cancer, filling her final years with joy of friends and church life. Her life is a testament to the virtue and stability of a traditional homemaker. Norma is survived by her husband, Stanley Reynolds of Mason City, children, Beth (Blaze) Baniadam of Encinitas, CA, and Brian Reynolds of Mason City, grandchildren, Che and Kahlo Baniadam of Encinitas, CA, sisters, Jane (Richard) Hornbecker of Broomfield, CO and Gerry (William) Bestmann of Marshalltown, many nieces and nephews. Norma is preceded in death by her parents.
