Norman F. Main, 92, of Mason City, died Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating. Inurnment will take place in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be directed to Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank, Trinity Lutheran Church or donors choice. Norman was born April 7, 1916 in Luverne, Minnesota the son of Daniel and Cora (Nelson) Main. He graduated from Luverne High School in 1935 then attended the University of Minnesota. Norman served with the US Army Air Corp during WW II in Italy and received the Presidential Unit Citation. He married Harriet E. Johnson January 1, 1949 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Mains moved to Mason City in 1952. Norman worked for UARCO Business Forms for 25 years then as a part-time employee for Artz & Merritt Sporting Goods. Norman was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and past member of the Mason City Evening Lions Club. He enjoyed volunteering at the Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank. Norman also enjoyed when he had a chance to go golfing.
Norman is survived by his wife, Harriet E. Main of Mason City; son, Richard (Audrey) Main of Buena Park, California; daughter, Susan (George) Hansen of Fremont, Nebraska; grandchildren, Jessica & Scott Main, Kari Follmuth, Eric and Travis Hansen; great grandchildren, Emily and Alex.
Norman is preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, John and Robert.
