Patricia N. Poppe, 86, of Mason City, passed away Monday, October 28, 2024, at her home surrounded by family. Memorials may be directed to the family of Patricia Poppe.

Patricia Nell Poppe was born on August 19, 1938, in Floyd, Iowa, to parents Charles and Harriet (Burton) Roy. As a young girl, Patricia loved to babysit. In her teen years, she worked picking beans, at a car hop, and as a waitress. Patricia graduated from Charles City High School in 1957. Patricia was united in marriage to Arthur Poppe at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. To this union, the couple were blessed with three children.

Patricia held many jobs over the years. As a young adult, she began her career at Liberty Import in the mailroom, and she did that for ten years. Patricia loved to work with children, so she changed careers, and began working as a teacher’s aide, at church daycare, and as a bus aide. Most recently, Patricia worked at KMART for 11 years until her retirement.

In her free time, Patricia enjoyed sewing, crafting, and baking. She delighted in making a variety of desserts, treats, and candies for her friends and family. Over the years, her home became a gathering place for neighborhood friends, who came to enjoy her delicious meals. In her younger days, Patricia and Arthur loved to dance. Patricia enjoyed being involved with her children’s activities. She loved to be a girl scout and cub scout leader, she was active in PTO, and after school activities. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.

Patricia was known for being a loving, caring, and loyal person. She was an extremely hard worker, and she was always willing to extend a helping hand to those who needed it. She cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and she will be deeply missed by those who knew her and loved her.

Patricia is survived by her children, Jacqueline (Barry) Huff, Jeffrey Poppe, and Jan (Dennis) Johansen; five grandchildren, Tanya (Paul) Lane, Gabriel (Laurie) Juarez, Teddy Johansen, Jon Johansen, and Krysten Johansen; great grandchildren, Kaelin, Quinton, Lochlain, Kyrie, Noah and Kobe; and siblings, Velma Jane Anderson and James Roy.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; parents, Charles and Harriet; and eight siblings, Harold Roy, Wuanita Arndt, Donald Roy, Peggy Beaver, John Roy, Carol Schmidt, Oliver Roy, and Teddy Roy.
