Paul A. Davis

Paul Allen Davis, 56, of Mason City, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2023, with his mother Eloise by his side at MercyOne ICU in Mason City, Iowa.  Following cancer treatment and surgery, Paul succumb to pneumonia.  Please join us to celebrate Paul’s life. A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM, January 10, 2023, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM.  A private Inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family of Paul A. Davis.

Paul was born January 16, 1966, to Robert and Eloise (Soma) Davis in Belmond, Iowa. Paul graduated from Mason City High School in 1984, and North Iowa Community College in 1987.  Paul worked for years in the restaurant business as his passion was people, food and service. 

Paul was the proud father of twin girls Alexia Mae and Kayla Sylvia (both of Ames, Iowa) who were born in 1999, and son Gabe Helland (Mason City) who was born in 2002.  Aside from his children and mother, the closest thing to Paul’s heart was his beloved Iowa State Cyclones.  His other interests included the Los Angeles Dodgers and Rams, cooking for his family, opening his home to every 4-legged and 2-legged mammal in need and a plethora of heavy metal and rock music.

Due to health issues stemming from a motorcycle accident in his early 20s, Paul experienced long-term chronic pain as a consequence.  Paul enjoyed tinkering in his garage and yard and striking up conversations with any person that graced his presence.  If you knew Paul, you loved him but wanted to wring his neck at the same time.

Paul is survived by his mother; sister Kristin Hummel (Brian) of Fort Myers, Florida; sister Andrea Davis of Wheaton, Illinois; his three children; niece Sydney Hummel of Manhattan; nephew Jordan Hummel of the US Naval Academy; brother-in law John Crites of Fort Myers, Florida and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Paul is proceeded in death by his father, maternal grandparents Elmer and Sylvia Soma and paternal grandparents Russel and Vivian Davis.
