Peter A. Pergakis, 80, of 502 S. Ohio Avenue, died Friday (December 24, 2004) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday at the Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, 1311 2nd St. SW with Rev. Joseph Mirowski officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 6:30 PM Monday at the Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church. A Trisagion Prayer Service will be held at 6:30 PM at the church. Memorials may be given to the Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church. Peter was born March 28, 1924 in Iowa Falls the son of Nicholas and Katherine (Levathitis) Pergakis. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1943 and the University of Iowa in 1950. Peter served with the US Army in the European Theatre receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He and brother, Andrew, owned and operated Midwest Plastics here in Mason City for many years. Peter is survived by his devoted brother; Andrew Pergakis and wife Helen of Mason City, sister; Marie Paulos of Roseville, MN, nephew and nieces; George Paulos of Little Canada, MN, Katherine Xkis and husband Dino of Eagan, MN, Nancy Herzog of Roseville, MN, Marilyn Marnell and husband Christopher of Roseville, MN, great nephew; Stephan Herzog of Roseville, MN, great nieces; Maria Xkis of Eagan, MN, Elena Marina Marnell of Roseville, MN, many cousins living in Greece and Atlanta, GA. Peter was preceded in death by his maternal & paternal grandparents, parents; Nicholas & Katherine Pergakis, step father; Gust Pergakis, brother-in-law; James Paulos, close friend; Dana Jones.
