Rande Lekwa, 75, of Mason City, passed away Wednesday, December 4th, 2024, at The Good Shepherd Health Center. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania with Rev. Kent Mechler officiating. A visitation will be held from 11-1 p.m. on Thursday. Inurnment will be held at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family of Rande Lekwa.
Rande was born April 27, 1949, in Iowa Falls to parents Glen and Betty (Hurd) Lekwa. He graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1967. He then went on to attend NIACC for 2 years and graduated in 1969. He then went on to join his dad in the family carpentry business.
Rande was united in marriage to Vicki Austin on November 23, 1969, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City. To this union two children were born, Michelle and Megan.
Rande worked alongside his father for 20 years and would later start his own carpentry business “Rande Lekwa Construction”. He then went to work for Woodford Wheeler where he would retire from in 2000.
Rande loved his family and loved spending time with all of them. He loved watching his kids and grandkids grow up. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching his westerns, and reading a good book. He also loved the Minnesota Vikings; you could find him watching them most Sundays in the fall.
Rande is survived by his loving wife, Vicki; daughter Michelle (Juan) Padilla; grandchildren, Olivia and Sandra Padilla, and Zachary Smith; Sisters, Kay Carolla and Jean Groven; great-grandkids, Sinthya, Mariana Elena, Nadia, and Leilani; brother, Monte Lekwa, and special friend Rene Cuevas.
Rande was preceded in death by his parents Glen and Betty; daughter Megan Cuevas; and many great friends and family members.
