Raymond L. Davis, 77, of Mason City, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Health Center surrounded by family. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family of Raymond Davis.
Raymond was born on March 8, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa, to parents Dave and Virginia (White) Davis. In 1964 Raymond Davis decided to leave school and join the service. After persuading his father to sign an age waiver to join, Raymond enlisted at 16 years of age. He served Honorably in the United States Coast Guard for 4 years during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge Raymond returned home.
After being honorably discharged, Raymond became a Union Painter and worked for 30+ years until he was physically unable to anymore.
In his free time, Raymond loved to watch drag racing, playing poker, and gambling with friends. He loved all types of muscle cars and is a self-proclaimed "BOP" Specialist. He often referred to his favorite car, a (70' Buick GS Stage 1 455) that he fixed up named Spot, as one of his kids. Raymond was a simple man; truly enjoyed the little pleasures in life. He loved his family dearly and will be deeply missed by those who knew him and loved him.
Raymond is survived by his loving children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; his sister, Barbara Lewis; brother, Dean Davis; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Virginia; a son in infancy, Jeremy Davis; a brother in infancy, Johny Davis; and brother-in-law, Clyde Lewis.
