Raymond Ellwanger, 89, of Mason City, died Friday, August 31, 2012 at the IOOF Home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Pastor Alan Berneman officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson, Iowa with Pastor Bruce Webster officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Raymond Ellwanger Memorial Fund. Raymond was born April 2, 1923 in Dallas, South Dakota the son of George and Margaret (Gull) Ellwanger. He graduated from Gregory, South Dakota High School. Raymond served in the US Army during WW II. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Raymond worked as a production painter for National Manufacturing Company for 22 years. He retired in 1984. Raymond lived in Winter, South Dakota, Jefferson, Iowa, Grand Junction, Iowa, then moved to Mason City in 1996. Raymond is survived by his children, Vincent (Sharon) Ellwanger of Mason City, Nancy (Duane) Ebrecht of Radcliffe, Randy Ellwanger of Mason City, and Donald Ellanger of Radcliffe; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Lorraine, Betty, and Lucille. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, a child in infancy, 1 grandchild, and several brothers and sisters.
