Raymond Lee Heimbuch was born on October 18, 1944, in Mason City, to parents Robert and Martha (Graff) Heimbuch. Raymond was third of nine siblings. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1963. After graduating, he went on to the University of Iowa, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science and then his Master’s of Science Education with an emphasis in Chemistry. Education was always highly valued in his family, all his siblings obtained four-year degrees, which was something that he and his family were very proud of.

Raymond was united in marriage to Pamela Wagner on June 29, 1968, at First Congregational Church in Mason City. The couple were blessed with two children, Melissa and Travis.

After college, Ray went accepted a teaching position in Chicago Heights, IL. He then moved to Davenport, and then Manly School District. He taught for several years, until he went to work with his brothers in the family business, Heimbuch Ag Services. He ended his career at Kraft, retiring in 2011 after 15 years.

Ray began volunteering as a Reading Buddy in 2013 at Elementary Schools in the Mason City area, something he thoroughly enjoyed doing. He also volunteered as a DJ for KCMR and has taken more than a quarter of a million photos at Mason City sporting events. He loved to share them with parents, the athletes, and coaches. Ray was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City.

Ray will be forever known for his giving spirit, being optimistic, open, and caring. He truly loved his life, his family and friends, and the people he connected with throughout his many hours of volunteering, young or old. Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and he will be deeply missed by those who knew him and loved him.

Ray is survived by his wife, Pamela Heimbuch; children, Melissa Heimbuch (Tommy Reich) and Travis (Lori) Heimbuch; grandchildren, Ashley, Kaytlan, Jason, Kennedy, Addelyn, and Beckett; siblings, Roger (Jean) Heimbuch, James (Judy) Heimbuch, Paul (Mary) Heimbuch, Mark (Lynette) Heimbuch, Mary (Charles) Sukup, and Carolyn (Richard) Pope; sisters-in-law, Sharon Heimbuch and Mindy (Jay) Padgett; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
