Richard D. Proscovec

Richard “Rick” Proscovec, 70, of Mason City, IA, died Thursday, September 8, 2022, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2022, at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Inurnment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Please feel free to attend wearing your favorite sports team or casual attire. Memorials can be directed to the family of Richard Proscovec.

Rick was born in Mason City, Iowa to Charles and Phyllis Proscovec on May 19, 1952. He attended Mason City Schools. Rick married Shari Eldridge October 8, 1971, and they raised one daughter, Candy Proscovec. He worked and retired from AMPI.

Rick loved spending time and being silly with his grandkids, spending time with his wife of 50 years, and his pets. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings, Iowa Hawkeye, and Minnesota Twins fan and always told everyone he “bled purple” for the Vikings.

Rick is survived by his wife Shari, daughter Candy (Ben) Proscovec, granddaughters Amaya and Adriela Alberto, honorary granddaughter Jessica (Quinten) Alberto, and honorary daughter Angie (Rod) Dickinson, sister Debbie Hertel, brother-in-law Rod Eldridge, sister-in-law Judy (Krause) Eldridge, sister-in-law Judy (Oxley) Eldridge, sister-in-law Donna Eldridge, sister-in-law Terry Eldridge, honorary grandchildren Angel (Codi) Thompson, Skyler, Lilly, Zander Dickinson and many other nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by parents Charles and Phyllis Proscovec, grandparents Clyde and Viola Baker, parents-in-law Gene and Twyla Eldridge, step mother-in-law Cleo Eldridge, brother-in-law Dale Hertel, four brother-in-laws Bob, Randal, Dick, and Ron Eldridge, nephew Chad Eldridge and niece Keri Retterath.
