MASON CITY: Richard ?Dick? Eugene Luse, 86, of 21185 Vine Avenue, passed away peacefully, June 12, 2006 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 17 at the Old Stone United Methodist Church, Rock Falls with Rev. Wendy Johannesen officiating. According to his wishes, the body was cremated. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa or the Old Stone United Methodist Church. Dick was born January 3, 1920 in Yankton, South Dakota the son of George E. and Erma M. (Cole) Luse. He attended school in Mason City. Dick enlisted in the U.S. Navy February 15, 1937 serving two four-year terms. He married Alice Guthrie June 21, 1941 in Mason City. To this union, three children were born, Gloria, Bill and John. Dick finished his high school education and graduated from Mason City High School with his youngest son, John, in 1968. Dick was employed by Northwestern States Portland Cement Company for 38 years. He retired in 1978. Following retirement, Dick and Alice spent many years managing the High Chaparral RV Park in Arizona City, Arizona. They were avid campers, and charter members of the River City Roamers. He was a member of the American Legion. Dick enjoyed many fishing trips to South Dakota with family. He loved horses, going to rodeos and watching western TV shows and movies. Dick is survived by his wife, Alice, just 9 days short of celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary; son, Bill Luse of St. Ansgar, son and daughter-in-law, John and Carole Luse of Osage; son-in-law, Larry Dorenkamp of Rock Falls; 6 grandchildren, Toni (Mark) Rock of St. James, Minnesota, Dean (Liz) Trebilcock of Denver, Colorado, Rick Luse of Minnesota, Raymie (Chris) Luse of Britt, Tara (Christopher) Yarbrough of Memphis, Missouri, Erin (Brad) Feingold of West Des Moines; 3 step grandchildren, Steve, Matt (Teresa) and Mike (Malena) Dorenkamp; 12 great-grandchildren, 2 step great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; sister, Helen Klein of Mason City; many nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Cletis and George Luse; 2 sisters, Thelma Haxton and Della Bickford; daughter, Gloria Dorenkamp on March 15, 2005.
