Richard “Dick” Everding, 89, of Mason City, passed away Monday, April 7, 2025, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. A funeral service will be held Monday, April 14, 2025, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave., at 10:30 am with Pastor Nick Daugherty officiating. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Association. Memorials may be directed towards the family of Richard Everding.

Richard was born on February 20, 1936, in Osage, the oldest of four children of Otto and Bea Everding. He graduated from Rock Falls in 1954. Following graduation, he married Linda Lunstrum on December 18, 1959, at Grace Baptist Church in Mason City. He then enlisted in the Army.
The young couple eventually settled in Mason City and had four children, Mark, Rodney, Nancy and Jeanette. Richard enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also liked painting, gardening, woodworking, and doing word searches.
Richard worked for the Mason City Schools as a custodian. Following retirement from the school system, Richard and Linda criss-crossed the state delivering items for a school fundraising company and also worked at Brick Furniture in the delivery department.
Left to remember him are his loving wife, Linda; children, Rod Everding, Nancy (Steve) Hugo, Jeanette and partner Mark Wagner; grandchildren, Bobbie and Tyler Janssen, Zane and Allison, Charlie, and Mariah Hugo; great-grandchildren, Hudson, Lucy, Sydney, Ike, and Willa; sisters, Rosemary (Richard) Mohnk, and Ramona (Jack) Maxfield, and a brother Rob (Mary) Everding.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; a son Mark Everding, and many great friends and family members.
