Richard G. Rust

Richard G. Rust, 71, of 1404 N. Hampshire Place, died Saturday (September 4, 2004) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorial services will be held 1:30 PM Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Avenue with Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Inurnment services will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa or Tuberous Sclerosis. Richard was born August 24, 1933 in Kanawha, Iowa the son of Raymond and Agnes (Thompson) Rust. He graduated from Kanawha High School. Richard married Harriet L. Boller July 27, 1951 in Mason City. They moved to Mason City in 1959. Richard worked for Mason City Brokerage, Briggs Transportation and Midwest Drivers Corporation. He retired in 1991. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a lifetime Teamsters member. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, motorcycle riding and spending time with his grandchildren. Richard is survived by his wife, Harriet L. Rust of Mason City; son, Terry Rust and wife Cindy of Mendota Heights, MN; daughter, Kathleen Heady and husband Robb of Durango, CO; grandchildren, Randy Rust, Stephanie Rust, Allison Rust and Jake Heady; brothers, Merle Rust of Kanawha and Jerry Rust of Goldfield; aunts, Neuella Franzeen and Shirley Kirkeby. Richard?s parents and brother, Leonard preceded him in death.
