Rick L. Lundquist, 62, of Clear Lake, died Thursday, November 3, 2011, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday (November 7, 2011) at Riverside Friends Church, 527 N. Kentucky Ave, with Pastor Paul Martin officiating. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 5:00 P.M. Sunday (November 6, 2011) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Rick L. Lundquist, 62, went to heaven to be with Jesus on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011. He was very ready to go and went very peacefully surrounded by his loving family and his dog Fozzie. Rick was born May 13, 1949 in Mason City, IA, the son of Kenny and Phyllis Lundquist. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1967. He went to UNI and graduated with a B.A. in Business in 1971. While at UNI, he met and married the love of his life, Dixie Bork. They had 3 children, Jason, Julie and Sheri. Rick was always involved in his church teaching Sunday School, umpiring church softball league, and serving as a church elder. He enjoyed trading cars and had 35 cars over the years. Most recently, he and Dixie enjoyed riding around the lake in their little red Toyota Echo. He also enjoyed having a variety of pets throughout his life. Rick had a huge heart, wanting to give to a helping hand to anyone in need. He made friends easily from all walks of life wherever he went. He loved all his family and many friends. He always said he wanted them all to be sure to join him in heaven someday. Rick is survived by his wife of 41 years, Dixie; his three children Jason (Anne) Lundquist, Julie (Johnny) Schmidt, and Sheri (Brant) Harriman; eight grandchildren Kendall and Derek Olson, Lydia, Simon, Lucy, Annie, and Judah Schmidt, and Jillian Harriman; his mom and step-dad Phyllis and Chuck Miller; mother-in-law Ruby Bork; sister Shelly (Darryl) Syverson as well as many more relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by his dad Kenny Lundquist; paternal grandparents Ludy and Hazel Lundquist; maternal grandparents Gladys and Lester Paulson; father-in-law Roy Bork; and a one child and one grandchild who passed away before birth.
