Robert 'Bob' D. Olsen

MASON CITY Robert Bob D. Olsen, 86, of Mason City, died Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at Heritage Care and Rehabilitation Center after spending 7 days at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 24, 2010, at First United Methodist Church, 119 South Georgia, with the Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Visitation will be held at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, on Thursday, December 23, 2010, from 5:00 7:00 p.m. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Robert D. Olsen Memorial Fund in care of the family.

Bob was born September 6, 1924, in Mankato, MN, the son of Ray and Clara (Erickson) Olsen. He moved to Mason City in the 1940s when he was in his twenties. Bob married Donna Jaspers in 1951 at First United Methodist Church in Mason City. He enjoyed snowmobiling in his younger years and later enjoyed golf. He was a talented carpenter for many years in Mason City. He was a member of the Elks and First United Methodist Church. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be missed dearly by all who loved and knew him.

Bob is survived by his wife, Donna of 59 years; two daughters, Janice Shevik and husband Gary of Rochester, MN, Nancy Ilbuga of Rochester, MN; grandchildren, Melissa Sahlstrom and husband Matt, Laurie Arnold and husband Brian, Brett Shevik, Jennifer Hemmer and husband Brice, Errol Ilbuga, Erin Ilbuga, Bianca Ilbuga, Beau Ilbuga, and Isabel Ilbuga; great-grandchildren, Bennett and Emma Sahlstrom; and one sister, Donna Mostrom.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, and one brother.

Memorials:
Memorials may be directed to the Robert D. Olsen Memorial Fund in care of the family.

Cemetery:
Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery.
