Robert 'Bob' S. Mackin, 65, of Clear Lake, IA, formerly of Mason City, IA, died Thursday, August 21, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Per his wishes his body was cremated and there will be no visitation. A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at Epiphany Parish Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams, with Rev. Rodney Allers officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Robert S. Mackin Memorial Fund in care of the family. Robert was born December 12, 1948, in Mason City, the son of John and Anna (Finnegan) Mackin. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1967, and continued his education at NIAAC and Mankato State. Bob was united in marriage to Rebecca J. Ward and they had two daughters, Sarah Michelle and Abby Elizabeth. The couple divorced and Bob later met Alison Konefes. Bob first worked in his family's business, Builders Supply, and then 1865 Spirits and Wholesale Liquours, which he owned and operated. He enjoyed spending time with his family – especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed NHRA racing, socializing with his friends, watching Westerns, attending sporting events and concerts, tinkering with old cars and trucks, and road trips in his Corvette. He enjoyed the lake and shared his love of boating with friends and family. His enduring enjoyment of fireworks entertained much of Mason City when he assisted in the Exhange Club's displays, and he treated his very appreciative family to private shows throughout the year. Bob was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, past President and member of the Exchange Club, and former member of the Antique Auto Club and the Chamber of Commerce. Bob was a good friend to many. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his partner, Alison Konefes of Clear Lake; two daughters: Sarah Lincoln of Saratoga, WY and Abby Widmann and husband Michael Widmann of Jupiter, FL; six grandchildren: Veronica, Meredith, Garrett, Zoe, Sloane and Vivienne; brother: Jack Mackin and wife Maureen of Plymouth, MN; sister: Janet Dorsey of Mason City; and Alison’s children: Jennie and Grant Hoglund and their children: Evan and Norah Joyce; Chuck Konefes and Steve and Erin Konefes. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who were very special to him.
