Robert C. Freeden, 70, of 1517 S. Virginia Avenue, died Monday (August 2, 2004) at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 4th St. SE with Rev. Paul C. Nelson officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue one hour before services at the church. Memorials may be given to the Robert C. Freeden Memorial Fund. Bob was born January 20, 1934 in Mason City the son of Carl Rufus and Mathilda (Buege) Freeden. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1952. While in high school Bob worked for Ray E. Pauley Heating & Air Conditioning. He served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He returned to Mason City following his discharge and resumed working for Pauley?s and later Mechanical Air Systems. He retired in 1996 due to his health. Bob married Marlene Byl November 10, 1957 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and the CB Club. He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, gardening and helping others. Bob is survived by his wife, Marlene of Mason City; son, Michael Freeden of Clear Lake; sister, Marie Whipple and husband Lon of Rock Falls; sister-in-law, Linda Hoblit and husband John of Hawkeye; nephews, Lee Whipple and wife Kelly of Waseca, MN, Bob Whipple and wife Roxanne of Rock Falls; niece, Carlene Gonnerman of Mason City; several great nieces and nephews. Bob?s parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law preceded him in death.
