Robert D. Rush

MASON CITY: Robert Dale Rush, 85, of Mason City, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 5, 2009 at the First Assembly of God Church, 1301 North Carolina Ave., with Pastor Clyde Harvey officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 4, 2009, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with Veteran Honors performed by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Memorials may be directed to the Robert D. Rush Memorial Fund.

Robert was born December 28, 1923 in Mason City, the son of Charles and Grace (Stewart) Rush. He attended Mason City Schools. He joined the Marines in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1945. He was in WWII and was in Iwo Jima. Robert married Charlotte Bull on June 14, 1946. He was employed by Interstate Power Company for 42 years, retiring in 1986.

Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Charlotte Rush, two sons, Robert and wife Phyllis and Kurt and wife Kathy; three grandsons, Kelly and wife Michelle, Aaron and Jordan and three great grandchildren, Taia, Kaitlyn, and Kourtney; and one sister, Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stillborn son, Kevin; daughter, Virginia Rush and his brothers and sisters.
