Robert L. Wickwire, 67, of Mason City, died Friday, March 7, 2008 at his home. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with Rev. Jo Frahm-Watkins of First United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment will be in the Rockwell Cemetery in Rockwell, IA. Memorials may be directed to the Robert L. Wickwire memorial fund.
Robert was born May 25, 1940 in Rockwell, IA, the son of Willard Lee and Dorothy (Clark) Wickwire. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Robert had worked at the Rockwell Co-op, the Burchnell Co-op, and the Portland Elevators as a Commercial Pesticide Applicator. Bob enjoyed working side by side with his father Babe at the Rockwell Co-op for several years. He was well liked by his co-workers for his humorous nature. He loved dealing in scrap metals and also enjoyed driving around the countryside.
He is survived by his father Babe and step-mother Carrie, of Rockwell, IA; 4 sons: Dan Wickwire and wife Dawn, of Jackson, GA, Tom Wickwire and fiancée Laure Nelson, of Mason City, IA, Jim Wickwire and wife Cheryl, of Charles City, IA, and Terry Wickwire and wife Debbie, of Mason City, IA; one brother: Gary Wickwire and wife Betty, of Hampton, IA; one sister: Marlys Johnson and husband Lloyd, of Rockwell, IA; four grandchildren: Cody, Cole, Emily and Tanner Wickwire; and one step grandchild: Kylie Bluhm.
He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy and sister Mary Morrison.
