Roger H. Bublitz

Roger H. Bublitz, 90, of Mason City, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at his home.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania, with Pastor Sid Bohls officiating.

Interment will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Britt, Iowa.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, from 2-4 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to the family of Roger Bublitz.

Roger was born April 18, 1932, in Mason City, Iowa, to Elmer and Erna (Jaschen) Bublitz. He attended school in Mason City. In 1951 Roger began a career he loved at the USPS. Upon his retirement he was a driver for Pizza Hut Delivery for many years.

Roger married Mary Jo Olson on September 9, 1962, at St. James Lutheran Church, and together they raised one son, Daniel. Roger cherished his life with Mary Jo until her death from cancer in 2006.

Roger was a people person and was often out at local activities. He enjoyed being a member of St. James Church, bowling, movies, puzzles, and spending time with his family and pets. In 2017 he moved to The Manor where he played bingo and did puzzles with his neighbors.

Roger will be missed by his son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Julie; grandchildren Nick Ford and Sara Lovely, and Jace; Cody Bublitz, and Connor; Taylor Bublitz and Nick Lamb, Noah, Ella, and Oaklee; Carter Bublitz; Spencer Bublitz and Katlyn Cox; Kaytie and Kevin O'Dell, Jackson, Kyle, and Logan; Zac Sletten and Keeley Heck, Harmony and Haiden, and Maddie and Micheal Perez, and Kora; his sister Audrey, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary Jo; one great grandson, Bryton Thompson; and his sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Dick Bridgeford.
