Ronald G. Ohotto Sr., 68, of Mason City, IA, died Saturday, April 2, 2016, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 440 N. Illinois Avenue, with Pastor Scott Davis officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Interment will take place in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Mason City Veterans Association. Memorials may be directed to the Ronald Ohotto memorial fund in care of the family.
Ronald was born February 20, 1948, in Littlefork, MN, the son of Ervin and Margaret (Wade) Ohotto. He attended school in Littlefork. In 1967, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country with two tours to Vietnam until his honorable discharge in 1971. On December 30, 1970, Ron married Juanita Jensen in St. Paul, MN. Over the years Ron did mechanical work, drove truck and owned/operated Ron’s Truck and Auto. Ron enjoyed spending time with his family – especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fixing cars and plowing snow with his 2 sons, watching wrestling on TV every Monday night, eating lunch with his friends, NASCAR, classic muscle cars and driving semi. He was a member of the VFW and the OTR (Over The Road Trucking Association).
Ron is survived by his wife of 45 years: Juanita Ohotto of Mason City; 2 sons: Ron Ohotto Jr. and wife Cheryl of Mason City and Michael Ohotto Sr. of Mason City; 7 grandchildren: Michael, Austin, Trent, Jace, Emmidee Jo, Mikey Jr. and Holden; 1 brother; 2 sisters-in-law: LaVonne and Larry Clark, Darlene and Al Morin; and 3 brothers-in-law: Roger Jensen, Keith and Darlene Jensen, and Rick Jensen. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews that he loved to horseplay with.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter: Stephanie Jo Ohotto who greeted her father with open arms at the heavenly gates; grandson: Cody Thompson; mother and father-in-law: Dean and Lois Jensen; sister-in-law: Irene Jensen; and brother-in-law: Curt Jensen.
