Ruth E. Helm

Ruth E. Helm, 95, of 302 2nd Street NE, died Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Good Shepherd Health Center. Private family services will be held 1:30 PM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Jim Stiles, First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church. Ruth was born November 11, 1911 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the daughter of Fred and Edna (Andersen) Wirges. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1929. Ruth married Truman ?Bruce? Helm May 16, 1931 in Northwood. She was a long time resident of Mason City and a member of the First United Methodist Church. Ruth is survived by a daughter, Virginia Diercks and husband Ralph of Mason City; grandchildren, Bruce Diercks and wife JoAnn of Keokuk, Brian Diercks and wife Shirley of Osceola and Beth Hall and husband James of Cedar Rapids; 5 great grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bruce; daughter, Susan Kay; brother, Clifford Holtzendorf; sister, Eula Lane
