Ruth H. Doane

SHEFFIELD: Ruth H. Doane, 92, of Sheffield, died Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Sheffield Care Center. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the Thornton United Methodist Church, Thornton with Gerald “Red” Haugland officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Thornton. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at the Thornton United Methodist Church. Memorials may be directed to the Ruth H. Doane Memorial Fund.
Ruth was born February 11, 1923 on a farm outside of Latimer, Iowa the daughter of Jacob and Bertha (Gerdes) Koenen. She married B.J. Doane July 5, 1941 in Ava, Missouri. She worked alongside her husband on the family farm for many years. Ruth was a member of the Thornton United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was an active member of the U.M.W. Ruth was a loving grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Karen (Jim) Quinlan of Swaledale; son, Larry (Janice) Doane of Thornton; grandchildren, Connie (Blake) Jensen of Essex, Robert (Angela) Quinlan of Rockwell, Matthew Doane of Great Falls, Montana and Melissa Doane of Thornton; great grandchildren, Tate, Shea and Riley Anne Jensen, McKenna Quinlan, Paige Scheffers and Magdalena Doane; sister, Minnie Meyer of Latimer.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, B.J. Doane; 3 sisters and their husbands, Ione (Wilbert) Meyer, Stiennette (Edwin) Hanson and Alberta (George) Oldag; brother-in-law, Verne Meyer.
