Ruth J. Frelund

Ruth J. Frelund, 86, of 302 2nd St. NE, died Monday (April 14, 2003) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held 10AM Friday at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 4th St. SE, with Rev. Scott Duffus officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Avenue and continue one hour before services Friday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Ruth J. Frelund Memorial Fund. Ruth was born April 8, 1917 in Mason City the daughter of Harry and Mabel (Cook) Roberts. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1935. Ruth worked at State Brand Creamery, 27 years at Montgomery Wards in retail sales and 10 years as assistant supervisor of housekeeping at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Ruth married Melvin A. Frelund October 3, 1936 in Mason City. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway, Senior Citizens Center, RSVP volunteer program and enjoyed quilting, crafts, cooking and bingo. Ruth is survived by her children; Marilyn Anderson of Mason City, Judith Clarke and husband John of Mason City, William Frelund and wife Renee of Mason City, Grandchildren; Steve Anderson and fiancé Melissa, Ken Anderson and wife Karen, Dean Anderson and wife Kris, Sandi Roggeman and husband Greg, David Borger and wife Carolyn, Jeff Borger and wife Sheila, JoDee Anderson and husband Mike, Mike Frelund and fiancé Stacy and Tom Frelund, 16 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, Sister; Doris Brown of Cottonwood, AZ, 2 brother and sister-in-laws, many nieces and nephews Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Husband; Melvin, Brothers; Elmer, Clarence and Harry Jr., Sister; Helen Roberts and granddaughter; Kendra Anderson
