Ruth M. McKee

Ruth Marilyn (Johnson) McKee, 86, of Garner, IA, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2012, at the Concord Care Center in Garner. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church (Chapel), 419 North Delaware – Mason City, IA, with Rev. Mark Lavrenz officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Ruth McKee memorial fund, in care of the family. Ruth was born on October 21, 1926, in Forest City, IA, the daughter of Tommy and Josie (Osheim) Johnson. She grew up in Thompson, IA, and graduated from Thompson High School in 1943. After high school she attended Hamilton School of Business in Mason City, IA, where she graduated in 1944 and began working for Banker's Life in Mason City. Ruth married Virgil McKee on December 25, 1952, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mason City. They made their home in Ames, IA. Ruth worked for the Iowa State Highway Commission for 23 years and the City of Ames Health Department for seven years before she retired. She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Ames. Ruth is survived by her stepson: Roger McKee and his wife Maxine of Tuscon, AZ; three sisters-in-law: MaryAnn Johnson, Bonnie Johnson, and Loretta Cotton. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Virgil McKee; her parents: Tommy and Josie Johnson; 2 sisters: Mardelle Johnson and Lois Johnson McGuire; and 2 brothers: Neal Johnson and Paul Johnson.

Interment will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery

Memorials may be directed to the Ruth McKee memorial fund, in care of the family.
