MASON CITY Ruth R. Anderson, 100, of Mason City, died Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Graveside memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday (August 18, 2009) at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City with the Pastor Kathy Graves of Trinity Lutheran Church and Deacon Matt Berry officiating. Upon her request she was cremated and there will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Iowa Ruth R. Anderson was born June 12, 1909 in Rushford, MN the daughter of Hans J. and Mary (Benson) Anderson. She moved to Hayfield, MN at the age of 5 and then to Mason City at the age of 9. She graduated from Mason City High School. She enlisted in the Coast Guard on February 7, 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946, while in the service she received the Good Conduct and Victory Medal. She lived in Seattle for some of her adult life until returning to Mason City. She loved square dancing in her earlier years and also attending her church bible study in her later years in Mason City. She was resident of Cornerstone Assisted Living and Good Shepherd Health Center for many years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She is survived by her nephews, Larry Anderson and wife Betty of West Bloomfield, M.I., and Vernon Huglund and wife Barbara of Minneapolis, MN; niece, Dorothy Beavers of Colorado Springs, CO and many realtives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ella Skoglund, Hazel Steil, Inga Heglund; brothers, Maynard Anderson, Orrin Anderson; niece, Edith Chamberlin; and nephew, David Anderson.
