Ruthmarie Selby, 79, of Mason City, IA, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, January 4, 2016, at Epiphany Parish St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 302 5th Street S.E. with Rev. John Gossman officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Interment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
Ruthmarie was born August 22, 1936, in Mason City, the daughter of D’Earl and D. May (Purington) McCoid. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1955. Ruth was united in marriage to Thomas Selby on February 15, 1958, in Southern California, where she raised her family. In 2005, she returned to Iowa. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family – especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed working in her yard and reading. Ruth was a member of Epiphany Parish St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was a sweet happy lady who will be deeply missed.
Ruth is survived by 7 children: Elizabeth Finch and husband Jeffrey of Livermore, CA, Denise Catanzaro of Richfield, OH, Audrey Johnson and husband Mark of Centennial, CO, Margaret Schuck and husband Thomas of Windsor, CT, Michael Selby and wife Michele of Sheffield, IA, Nadine Doest and husband Jeff of Anaheim, CA, and Mark Selby of Mason City, IA; 16 grandchildren: Karissa, Jeffrey, Glen, Gina, Angela, Chris, Shelby, Joe, Casey, Daniel, Christopher, Lisa, D’Earl, Ashley, Jessica and Cordero; 6 great grandchildren: Ben, Alexander, Rosabelle, Brody, Luke and Leo; 1 brother: D’Earl McCoid of Rockwell, IA; 1 sister: Kathleen Springthorpe and husband Michael of Burbank, CA; She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2002; and brothers; David McCoid and Jerry Ruka.
