R.W. Easley

GRAPEVINE, TX R.W. Easley, 86, passed away on October 20, 2010. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 23, at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel, 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX. Visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. yesterday, Friday, October 22, at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City at a later date. Robert was born on December 28, 1923 to William and Jenny Easley. He was born in Mason City, Iowa. Robert was fifth in a line of twelve children. Mason City was called his home for nearly his entire life until 1999. He then moved to Texas to be with his son, (Van), daughter-in-law, (Connie), and granddaughter, (Vanessa). Robert married Lois Irene Thompson (deceased July 3, 1986) on November 23, 1946. They had one son together, (Van Paxton). Robert worked as a Plastering Contractor for his father, W.J. and his brother, Jack, calling the business, \"Easley and Sons\". He plastered many buildings in the northern Iowa area, including the First Methodist Church of Mason City and the Surf Ballroom of Clear Lake, Iowa. He then joined the Iowa Paint Company and worked there for three years. Shortly thereafter, Robert accepted a position with the Mason City school system and worked his way up to Buildings and Grounds Manager. He worked for the school system for 18 years before retiring. After his retirement, he enjoyed being, \"just retired, spending time with friends over coffee, visiting, and playing some golf. Robert never seemed too busy to give others a hand in just doing things that needed to be done. He was a giver in that way, always seeing a need to keep things in repair and helping a neighbor in need. He was a loving father, father-in-law, and most especially a grandfather to Vanessa, the girl he loved!
