Sandra K. Solsaa

Sandra K Solsaa, 84, of Mason City, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. A visitation will be held from 10 - 12 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave. A private graveside service will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude or Boys Town. 

Sandra was born on May 10, 1940, in Mason City, to parents John and Hulda (O’Green) Ringis. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1958. After high school she started nursing school in Sioux City, completing her nursing schooling at NIACC 1972. In 1959, Sandra was united in marriage to Johnaton Lundahl. Together the couple had one daughter, Jean. On June 14, 1983, Sandy was united in married to Bert Solsaa in 1983. Bert had five children. 

Sandy started working as a nurse at Mercy Hospital in 1974, retiring in 2002. Sandy spent her retirement years RV traveling with Bert beginning in the 80's trading up to larger trailers as they enjoyed the life allowing them to visit friends and family, going as far as Alaska but spent a lot of time camping in area campgrounds accompanied by their fur grand babies in the later years. She also volunteered her time with Hospice Inpatient Unit and was an avid card player in 3 “500” clubs. Sandy and Bert also enjoyed vegetable gardening and hosting family fish fry's for many years.

Sandra is survived by her daughter, Jean (Brad) Lundahl-Heagel; stepchildren, Randy (Susan) Solsaa, Patty (Mike) Heinold, Karen Solsaa; numerous step-grandchildren; sister, Cheryl Ringis; two nieces and one nephew. 

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Carl Gibbs II and John Ringis II; sister-in-law, June Gibbs; stepchildren, Ron Solsaa and Linda Sweeney; nephew, Carl Gibbs III.
